This past year I received a call from a woman wishing to give her husband a unique birthday gift, a fishing trip. When I mentioned the cost, she was a little apprehensive. She went on to suggest that there were many other gifts she could give her husband for that price. “Yes” I said, “but the memory or novelty of material gifts soon fade where as a gift of an experience lasts a life time.” She went ahead and booked the trip and wasn’t disappointed. The first fish landed by her husband that morning was a 21lb Chinook. Sometime later, I received an email saying he hasn’t stopped talking about it. And, he probably never will.
