June 2017 Fishing Report for Nanaimo from Reel Time Fishing Charters.

June 2017 Fishing Report for Nanaimo, Vancouver Island from Reel Time Fishing Charters:

“Every days is a new day…., that’s what I’ve been told.”  Famous lyrics from a Don Henley’s song “Shangri-La.”   And that’s how the fishing has been throughout the month of June.  There have been days when we’ve been into a lot of fish.  And there have been days when we have struggled.  Areas we have been fishing have been Entrance Island, Five Fingers, Clark Rock, Winchelsea Island and Gerald Island/Dorcas Rock over in Nanoose.  Of all these places, Nanoose, the Five Fingers, and Clark Rock have been the most consistent (Entrance Island has had it moments too).   Once we started to mark the bait in these places, we often found fish as well.  Some days produced 4 or more fish in a 4 to 5 hour charter.  Other days produced 1 or 2.

Over the past week though, fishing seems to have picked up by the Five Fingers and out by Clark Rock.  On Monday, June 26, we began to mark a lot of bait out in front of Pipers Lagoon.  In fact, our first tack by the beautiful park landed 2 nice fish.  Our four hour charter ended with 4 fish in the box not to mention the 2 that were taken by the local seal.  Today (Tuesday, June 27), the bait was a little more sparse out in front of Pipers Lagoon.  However, after only 3.5 hours of fishing, we netted 5 nice fish and lost two that where in the mid-teens.

The wind continues to blow out there so if you are heading out for the long weekend to celebrate Canada’s birthday, be sure to check the marine weather.  For any local updates or tips about fishing, feel free to give us a call.  Otherwise, have a great long weekend.  Be safe, keep those lines tight, watch out for the seals, and have fun.  All the best 🙂
