Ucluelet Fishing with Reel Time Fishing Charters, Summer Summary for 2016
Due to the busyness of this summer, our weekly posts never made it to print. My apologies! In sum, I would say that word of a great Chinook salmon year never materialized. Their numbers as well as their size appeared to be down for almost all Uckee guides and anglers. The same appeared true for most of the commercial fleet up and down the west coast of Vancouver Island too. Let’s hope this isn’t a trend for years to come.
On the other hand, the Halibut fishing turned out to be fantastic. Earlier in the season (July), we were able to troll up many nice fish on the Big Bank. Later on in the season (August), anchoring and baiting them proved most successful. Places such as the Hycien, the Wreck, and the Big Bank constantly produced some really nice fish as the pictures suggest.
